Off to Accra for the summer

Hi, my name is Annabel and I'm a first-year law student at Université de Montréal. Before beginning law school I completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and International Relations at the University of British Columbia. Towards the end of my studies, I noticed that my passion for international relations was growing. I am interested by international conflicts, development and human rights issues and I believe that attending law school will help me advance towards my goal of working in the field of international law.

Canadian Lawyers Abroad (CLA) is a dynamic, Ottawa-based, charitable organization that engages in groundbreaking work in the developing world and in Canada's north in the areas of good governance, rule of law and human rights. CLA aims to provide international experience to students across Canada by helping them obtain unique internships. I have the privilege this year to count myself as one of their 2010 Summer Interns.

I have been paired with the Center for Public Interest Law (CEPIL) in Accra, Ghana and I will be working there for the next three months.

I invite you to share my journey with me as I embark upon this exciting adventure.

The internship is a purelypro bono project therefore, I am be required to raise all of my own funding. I must thank Campbell Cohen for their sponsorship of this blog and the CLA Chapter of l'Université de Montréal for their financial support. Thank you also to my family and friends who have contributed to my fundraising efforts.

If you would like to donate, it's never too late!!
